Federal law protects Canadian Geese. It is illegal to harm geese, their eggs, or their nests in the United States without permission from the U.S. Fish and Wild Service (USFWS).
The Quail Lakes Board previously looked into relocation and the cost to capture and relocate at that time was $50.00 per goose. A more recent analysis suggests the same or higher costs. There is no guarantee that the geese will not return. They return to their nesting place.
It is also against the law to shake the eggs, the manner that Michigan controls the wild swan population.
